Little later than usual, Estonians in Switzerland celebrated the 99th Independence Day of Estonia on March 11th, 2017
The sunny weather greeted Estonians in Berne last Saturday, as general assembly, that takes place every second year, commenced in Paul Klee Zentrum at 10am. While the adults attended the meeting, the children had the option to attend the painting lessons by gallery's artist.
Director himself - Mr M. Baumgartner - introduced the center and pointed out that the building is part of landscape architecture. For Estonians it looked like song festival grounds in Tallinn. Helen Ree captured all Estonians there on a photo.
Lateron the festive lunch took place in Brasserie Obstberg. More than 40 Estonians celebratd the day - some contributing to programme Estonian readings, some by singing national hymn or by playing it on water-bottles. Honorary consuls held speeches about Livonia times and pointed out that Estonia might be the future language that is spoken in many countries (for several reasons: i.e. Estonian ex-president married Latvian lady, Austria's new president is Estonian refugee).
Also the planned programme for Estonia100 was published.
Thank you for all helpers - Marika, Aive, Katrin, Mikk, Ott
And special thanks for Kristi and Maarja.
Long live Estonia!
