Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid was an honour guest at St.Gallen Symposium on May 3rd, 2017. Pre Symposium President paid a visit to Katharinen libarary in St.Gallen, where a collection of Estonian books were launched 1.5 years ago.
Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid was an honour guest yesterday at St.Gallen Symposium.
"As president of Estonia I represent the world's only digital society
which actually has a State – the Estonian digital society of 1,3 million

Symposium President paid a visit to Katharinen libarary in St.Gallen,
where a collection of Estonian books were launched 1.5 years ago. She
brought some books with her and handed them over to be included in our
Kaljulaid was interested to hear about the Estonians in Switzerland.
She appreciated the efforts that such a small group of Estonians are
making to bring Estonians together. She reflected the library visit in her blog.
St.Gallen city council was represented by Mr Markus Buschor (Department
Education). He pointed out that Estonians have not only chosen the well
known library town to be the home for Estonian books but also have they
chosen the city that is famous for books. St.Gallen is the city of books.
Mr Buschor acknowledged the fact that despite Estonian digital society, the Estonians share their passion for hardcopy books.
library ceremony was accompanied by Chief of Library Mrs Christa
Oberholzer and Professor of St.Gallen University Mr Yves Partchefeld. He
will direct also the Estonia100 reading series in St.Gallen with four
Estonian book authors this autumn (23.Sept, 19.Oct, 16.Nov ja 2.Dec).
The President was accompanied by Swiss Ambassador Rein Oidekivi and Honorary Consul Hans Graf.
President's visit opened the Estonia100 festivities that continue throughout 2018.
